Learning outcomes and constructive alignment – the fundamentals of Programme/Module design Online

This workshop is open to colleagues from QMU and our collaborative partners.

Participants will be asked to complete ~30 mins of asynchronous preparatory work prior to joining the workshop.

We will be using cameras, microphones and breakout rooms during the session, so you may prefer to join us from a quiet space if this is possible for you.

Workshop Learning Objectives:

By the end of this training you should be able to:

1.      Outline key concepts associated with Outcomes Based Education (OBE)

2.      List advantages of using an OBE approach for staff, students and Quality Assurance (QA) bodies

3.      Summarise the difference between a ‘learning outcome’ and a ‘learning objective’ (and recognise other relevant terminology)

4.      Explain the terms ‘constructive alignment’ and ‘blueprinting’

5.      Formulate meaningful learning outcomes and objectives for structuring Programmes and Modules, and relate these directly to designing assessment tasks.
