Introduction to the Validation and Review Toolkit: Decolonising, EDI and Sustainability In-Person
The LEAD Centre and GQE are facilitating a workshop on a new Toolkit for Revalidation and Review, which covers EDI, Decolonising and Sustainability. It has previously been shared with the Programme Leaders’ Network and the Student Experience Committee. The Toolkit was rolled out for all validation and review events with effect from semester two last academic year. It has been developed to support colleagues to embed the three strands of social, racial and climate justice within the curriculum development process and aligns closely with QMU’s Student Experience Strategy.
As many colleagues will already be aware, these complex areas are currently addressed in course design and through the validation and review processes. The Toolkit does not seek to introduce any significant new requirements. Instead, it builds on the existing approaches to provide enhanced guidance, suggested prompt questions for panels and teams to consider, and links to further reading. It is expected that the Toolkit will address some of the questions and requests from colleagues for clearer guidance and resources to develop their practice.
The workshop will offer a space to explore the Toolkit and discuss prompt questions, processes, and accompanying resources such as the newly developed SharePoint sites. The session will be facilitated by Vikki Hill, Senior Lecturer LEAD and Dawn Martin, Assistant Secretary, Governance and Quality Enhancement.
We welcome all colleagues to join us. We would particularly encourage attendance from validation and review conveners and panel members, and programme teams participating in events in 2024/25.
