Back for its fourth year our QMU Festival of Learning will be held on Wednesday 28th May from 10-4pm and is on the theme of Assessment with keynote by Professor Maha Bali.

Assessment 360 will give us space to explore a holistic view of assessment in tertiary education. Expect lively conversations, key note speakers, panels and interactive seminars that will cover a diverse range of topics including the opportunities and challenges presented by Generative Artificial Intelligence in assessment methodologies. From redesigning feedback to trauma-informed practices, assessment for equity, postgraduate assessment, and beyond, the festival offers a platform for QMU staff and students to come together for thought-provoking discussions and collaborative learning. We welcome collaborative partners as well as those on campus as we will be running a digital strand as well as in person event.

We are delighted to welcome Professor Maha Bali as our keynote speaker. Maha is Professor of Practice at the Center for Learning and Teaching at the American University in Cairo. She has a PhD in Education from the University of Sheffield, UK. She is co-founder of virtuallyconnecting.org (a grassroots movement that challenges academic gatekeeping at conferences) and co-facilitator of Equity Unbound (an equity-focused, open, connected intercultural learning curriculum, which has also branched into academic community activities Continuity with Care, Socially Just Academia, a collaboration with OneHE: Community-building Resources and MYFest, an innovative 3-month professional learning journey. Maha is one of 30 Higher Ed IT Influencers to Follow in 2023 by EdTech Magazine: Focus on Higher Education. Maha will be exploring Assessment, Generative AI and inclusion.
