INSIGHTS Talk: Beyond the Hype - Speculative Futures for Responsible Assessment Choices Today

INSIGHTS Talk: Beyond the Hype - Speculative Futures for Responsible Assessment Choices Today In-Person / Online

We are delighted to invite colleagues and students to an online event on Tuesday 30th September with Sarah Grayston, where participants will explore a speculative future for digital assessment. This session launches a speculative futures scenario developed through a discourse analysis of current platform narratives, interviews with teachers and administrators directly involved in using digital assessment platforms today, and research into AI-driven decision-making in HE.

What is a speculative futures scenario?

A research-informed narrative that imagines a possible future - not as a prediction, but as a tool to provoke critical thinking about the ethical, social, and political implications of emerging technologies.

We are going to tackle one main question:

If we delegate decision-making for high-stakes academic decisions and academic processes (such as assessment) to AI, what might the implications be?
